Bhubaneswar: The Odisha government has waived an amount of over Rs 61 lakh that the Navi Mumbai Municipal Corporation (NMMC) had to pay it towards the stay of its doctors and nurses, engaged in COVID-19 duty, at Odisha Bhawan in Mumbai.
NMMC was to pay the Odisha government Rs 61.05 lakh. The amount has been waived by Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik.
NMMC doctors and nurses occupied eight rooms and a dormitory on the fourth floor of Odisha Bhawan for over seven months from April 12, 2021 to November 27, 2021.
Earlier also, the Odisha government had waived an amount of Rs 2.16 crore on NMMC during the first COVID-19 wave.
