Odisha Govt Warns Its Staff Of Stern Action For Using ‘Influence’ For Transfer & Posting
Bhubaneswar: The Odisha government has warned its employees of stern action for resorting to “extraneous influence” for their transfer and places of posting.
Chief Secretary Manoj Ahuja, in a letter to the secretaries of all departments, said exerting extraneous influence on any official for transfer and posting was a clear violation of Rule 23 of the Odisha Government Servants’ Conduct Rules, 1959. Any attempt to violate the rules would be viewed seriousty and would attract disciplinary action, he added.
“No Government servant shall bring or attempt to bring any influence whether official or non-official to bear upon any authority to further his interests in respect of matters pertaining to his appointment under Government, promotion, pay and other service conditions,” the letter stated.
The chief secretary also directed the government employees to maintain highest standards of integrity and conduct, uphold the principles of fairness and transparency in all service matters.
“Transfers and postings of employees are usually taken up as per the administrative exigencies, considering merit, and following established procedures. Any attempt to circumvent this process will be viewed as a serious misconduct, which will attract disciplinary action,” the letter added.
