Odisha Govt Warns Of Strict Action Against Schools Defying Summer Vacation Order

Bhubaneswar: The Odisha government has ordered for strict action against schools ignoring the official summer vacation order.

This came amid reports that some schools are functioning in defiance of the order issued in view of the ongoing heatwave in the state.

The School and Mass Education Department has directed all District Education Officers (DEOs) to take swift and strict action against these schools.

A letter from Additional Secretary Durga Prasad Mohapatra emphasised that all government, aided, and private schools were ordered to break for summer vacation from April 22 as a precautionary measure to protect students from extreme heat. However, reports indicate some schools are still functioning, endangering students.

The department has instructed DEOs to closely monitor compliance and enforce the closure mandate rigorously, amid growing concerns for children’s health and safety during the intense heatwave.
