Odisha Govt Withdraws Appointment Powers Of College Principals For Non-Teaching Staff

Bhubaneswar: In a major administrative step to streamline recruitment in higher educational institutions, the Odisha government on Monday shifted the authority to appoint non-teaching staff from college principals to the Regional Directors of Education (RDEs).

An order issued by the Higher Education Department said the RDEs concerned will henceforth serve as the appointing authority for all non-cadre Group-B, Group-C and Group-D non-teaching posts in Government Colleges and Teacher Education Institutions under their administrative jurisdiction.

The order, which came into force with immediate effect, supersedes all previous instructions issued in this regard.

With the new order, the powers of appointment that were previously vested in the principals of Government Colleges and Teacher Education Institutions have been withdrawn.

Consequently, principals will no longer be authorised to appoint personnel to non-teaching non-cadre posts in their respective institutions.
