Odisha & Gujarat To Witness Significant Rise In Temp: Skymet

Bhubaneswar: A day after mercury soared to 40 degree Celsius at nine places in Odisha, the Skyment on Friday said that the state along with Gujarat is likely to witness a further rise in temperature.

The private weather forecaster said that no significant weather system is marked over the Indian region and the least weather activity is expected during the next 24 hours.

“Due to an anti-cyclone, winds from the desert will blow towards North India. Gujarat to experience 40 plus temperature. The day temperature is likely to rise by 4 to 6 degree Celsius in North India,” it said.

There exists a turf along Kerala and Karnataka coasts. However,  except for discontinuity in wind, this will cause no significant change in weather conditions. “Another discontinuity exists in Odisha extending up to Andhra, making it a heat pocket,” it said, adding that Angul, Baripada and Bhubaneswar will continue to record 40 plus temperature.

On Thursday, Boudh recorded the highest of 40.8 degree Celsius followed by Bhubaneswar and Balangir at 40.4 degree Celsius, Sonepur (40.2 degree Celsius), Angul (40.1 degree Celsius) while Baripada, Titlagarh, Malkangiri and Nayagarh recorded 40 degrees Celsius.

The India Meteorological Department has also forecast that the day temperature to remain 2 to 3 degrees Celsius and 3 to 4 degrees Celsius above normal during the next 4 to 5 days.
