Cuttack: The Orissa High Court on Wednesday granted bail to Nachika Linga, the leader of Chasi Mulia Adivasi Sangh (CMAS).
He was arrested in October 2014 for his alleged involvement in the attack on the Narayanpatna police station in Koraput district.
The High Court, while granting bail, ruled that the lower court will decide the condition of the bail for the tribal leader.
THE ATTACK
The incident took place on November 20, 2009, when about 300 CMAS activists, protesting against frequent patrolling in the area by paramilitary forces and police, attacked Narayanpatna police station with traditional weapons.
Two activists were killed when police opened fire on them while they were trying to loot weapons.
While the hunt for the CMAS leader yielded no results, he finally surrendered in Podapadar area of Koraput district on October 28, 2014.
