Odisha Health Dept Issues Advisory on Expired Drugs; Check Details
Bhubaneswar: The state Health and Family Welfare Department has issued an advisory on expired drugs at government-run hospitals in Odisha after several instances of disbursement of expired medicines to patients.
In a letter to the authorities of Capital Hospital, Rourkela General Hospital, Superintendents of Medical Colleges and CDMs & PHOs of all districts, the Director of Health Services has asked for strict adherence to the advisory.
The advisory states that expiry date of all medicines in the inventory must be rechecked before being disbursed. “The provision of e-Niramaya in inventory management must be followed so that expired drugs cannot be issued to facility or patients,” it added.
The Director of Health Services said that suitable instructions should be given to persons handling medicines and training programmes will be organised for personnel dealing with inventory of drugs.
