Odisha Health Dept Official Arrested For Carrying Rs 2.8 Lakh ‘Ill-Gotten’ Cash

Bhubaneswar: Odisha Vigilance on Tuesday arrested senior assistant in Additional District Public Health Office (Family Welfare), Keonjhar, a day after being apprehended with Rs 2.8 lakh unaccounted cash.

The Vigilance sleuths intercepted Sekharlal Kumar Sahu near Ajanta Hotel at Keonjhar town last evening while he was returning from his office on a scooter and recovered Rs 2.8 lakh in cash from his possession. He, however, could not give any satisfactory answer regarding the source of the money.

Later, simultaneous searches were conducted at his rented residential house at Attapur and his office chamber. “He has been arrested and is being forwarded to the court. Further investigation into the matter is underway,” an official release said.
