Odisha Honeytrap Racket: Blackmailer Archana Nag’s Bungalow Attached By ED
Bhubaneswar: In a swift move in Odisha honeytrap racket case, the Enforcement Directorate (ED) has attached lady blackmailer Archana Nag’s plush bungalow in Satya Vihar area of Bhubaneswar.
The cost of the building with rich interior, allegedly raised with money amassed through Archana’s sex and extortion racket, was estimated at over Rs 3.40 crore, according to reports.
The property was attached by the premier central agency in accordance with the legal procedure.
Officials of the central investigating agency, which filed chargesheet against Archana, her husband Jagabandhu Chand and their two associates on Monday, had last week visited the lady blackmailer’s residence with valuators to make a valuation of the property amassed by the accused through illegal means.
According to reports, ED officials have interrogated Archana and Jagabandhu to learn about the valuation of their plush bungalow, the money spent on the rich interior of the building as well as the luxury cars owned by her.
Failing to elicit satisfactory answers from the accused, the ED officials visited the property to prepare its valuation.
ED officials had also visited the Jharpada jail in the city and interrogated another accused, Khageshwar Patra, for details regarding Archana’s property.
The ED officials had also contacted the chartered accountant who filed income tax returns of Archana to get details regarding her income, expenditure and how she amassed the property.
According to sources, the ED took these steps as it had to include the accused’s property details in the chargesheet against the accused which was filed in the court on Monday.
