Bhubaneswar: Odisha sprinter Animesh Kujur left the field in his wake to clinch gold medal in Men’s 100m at the 38th National Games in Uttarakhand on Saturday.
On the first day of track and field competitions, the 21-year-old Kujur, who has a personal best time of 10.27 seconds, equalled the Games record of 10.28 seconds set by Assam’s Amlan Borgohain. Maharashtra’s Pranav Gurav was second in 10.32, while Borgohain finished third in 10.43. National record-holder Manikanta Hoblidhar (10.46) of Services was a distant fifth.
Two more Odisha athletes Bapi Hansda and Astik Pradhan are in line for medals after qualifying for the Men’s 400m final.
Odisha secured a silver medal through the Women’s Pairs team of Rajeswari Seth and Roshni Sahu in Lawn Bowls.
