Bhubaneswar: The Odisha state-level inter-university championship was inaugurated on Thursday at Utkal University.
The five-day inter-university competition, organised with financial support of Odisha’s Higher Education Department and Odisha Higher Education Council (OHEC), will be held at Biju Patnaik Multipurpose Stadium and Kalinga Stadium.
A torch march was arranged from Maa Talpadeshwari temple to Biju Patnaik Sports Complex.
Vice-Chancellor Prof. Sabita Acharya declared the competition open.
“If you set goals and work hard, you will surely get success. If you strive with a winning attitude, you will be sure of victory. Sports are essential for skill development. Sports are also given importance in the new education policy,” said the Vice-Chancellor.
Olympian Anuradha Biswal, who was the Guest of Honour, said winning and losing are part of sports.
“If someone loses, someone will win. Those who lost will continue to try to do better. Success can be achieved with hard work and practice,” was her advice to participating students.
