Bhubaneswar: Over 5000 children were administered the first dose of Corbevax vaccine against COVID on the first day of the vaccination drive for 12-14 years age group at 54 camps set up in schools across the state on Wednesday.
According to the health department, 15.21 lakh children in the state will be jabbed with the vaccine manufactured by Biological E. Limited, Hyderabad. “All eligible beneficiaries will be covered by the end of April,” Director of Family Welfare Dr Bijay Panigrahi said.
The Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation has now released a list of centres where the facility are available in the Odisha capital.
Those born on or before March 15, 2010, can either book slots on CoWIN or register with Aadhaar cards at these centres in the city: Sikharchandi UPHC, Niladri Vihar UPHC, Samantapuri UPHC, Naharakanta UPHC, Unit-3 UPHC, Satyanagar UPHC, Unit-4 UCHC, Jharpada UPHC, Brahmeshwarpatna UPHC, Pokhariput UPHC, Central Ayurveda Institute, Capital Hospital, Gadakan UPHC and AIIMS, the civic body tweeted.
The timings for administering Corbevax are from 9 am to 1:30 pm and 3 pm to 5 pm.
The Chief District Medical Officers (CDMOs) have been directed to run the drive during the school hours in the first phase. Dedicated centres will be gradually set up for the vaccination of the children in the next phases. The Education Department will coordinate with the SC-ST Department to streamline the drive. Over 600 health workers have been engaged for the purpose.
The gap between the 2 doses will be 28 days.
At schools, student ID cards or the approval of teachers will also be accepted.
