Bhubaneswar: The Odisha government has directed the authorities concerned to ensure seamless supply of essential goods during the two-week state-wide lockdown that began on Wednesday.
Food Supplies and Consumer Welfare Minister Ranendra Pratap Swain issued the directive in a letter to all district civil supply officers (CSOs).
The minister told the CSOs to inspect the godowns under their jurisdiction to verify the stock of essential goods at regular intervals.
The minister has also asked them to act sternly against the wholesale dealers who are found hoarding goods and selling them at higher prices.
It may be mentioned that the price of potatoes went up sharply from Rs 15 per kg to Rs 25 per kg in retail markets in Bhubaneswar on the eve of the lockdown Tuesday.
