Bhubaneswar: Marking the celebration of Utkal Divas on Saturday, the state government has decided to develop the birthplace of Utkal Gourav Madhusudan Das – popularly known as Madhu Babu – as a single museum complex.
Apart from presenting a light-and-sound show on the life and achievements of Madhusudan Das, steps will be taken to install a 15-ft high bronze statute at his birthplace.
A plan for such developments will be prepared and put forth before Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik by April 15, official sources said.
Following a direction from the Chief Minister, 5T Secretary V K Pandian visited the birthplace of Madhu Babu in Cuttack district in the morning.
After paying his respects to the great freedom fighter at his birthplace, he held talks with officials of the district administration and local people about the development works to be carried out at the place.
All development works will be done under 5T Initiative, he added. The museum will house all the articles, artifacts and other memorabilia of Madhu Babu.
Notably, Madhu Babu after returning from Kolkata had stayed in a house at his native place.
The narrow road connected to his native place will be upgraded. It is said that in his childhood, Madhu Babu was used to this road.
The light-and-sound show that will depict the life and achievements of Madhu Babu will be done in multiple languages so that tourists from outside the state will get an insight on his eventful life.
The 5T secretary had underscored the need for ensuring quality development works at his birthplace.
Besides, a parking lot will also be built near his birthplace.
