Odisha Maintains Declining Trend, Reports 5896 New COVID Cases; TPR Drops Below 9%
Bhubaneswar: Odisha continued to maintain its declining trend in daily COVID-19 caseload on Tuesday, registering 5896 infections in the last 24 hours, the lowest after April 21 when it had reported 4851 new cases.
The state had seen 6118 people testing positive for the virus on Monday after reporting over 7000 new infections for three consecutive days. It had reported over 8000 cases from May 30 to June 3. On May 29, the number was 9541.
With the fresh infections being detected from 68896 swab samples sent for tests, the daily test positivity rate (TPR) dropped to 8.5 per cent from 9.10 per cent the previous day. The TRP was 9.72 on Sunday.
The state has also seen a consistent drop in the number of red zones. Currently, there are 10 hotspot districts with more than 1000 active cases.
Among the new infections, 3332 are from quarantine centres and 2564 local contacts, the I & PR department informed.
The highest of 853 cases have been reported from Khurda, followed by Jajpur (413) and Angul (385).
