Odisha makes installation of GPS mandatory in mineral-laden trucks
Bhubaneswar: To ensure transparency in mining activities, the Odisha government on Monday made it installation of Global Positioning System (GPS) mandatory in the trucks transporting minerals.
“The GPS tracking have been installed in 24,000 trucks engaged in transporting minerals. Owners of the remaining 8,000 trucks have been asked to install GPS devices in their vehicles as soon as possible,” said steel and mines minister Prafulla Mallick said, adding, “If any truck owner fails to adhere to the direction, transport permission will not be given to him/her.”
