Odisha Farmer Rides Horse To Avoid Hefty Traffic Fines
Malkangiri: Jatish Mistry of MV-42 in Malkangiri Municipality drops his two daughters to school on horseback, every morning. The school is away three km from the village.
A farmer, he can be seen riding the horse to the town market every day. He uses the same mode of transport for visiting hospital in case of any emergency.
The horse is a recent addition to his family. He bought it for Rs 23,000 in October this year and his two-wheeler has been lying unused since then. And the reason: To beat the hefty traffic fines under the new Motor Vehicle Act 2019.
Besides, this alternative mode of transport has helped deal with the soaring fuel prices.
Mistry said that this environment-friendly ride not only saves money but also minimises the chances of accidents.
Jatish’s unique way has made him popular in the region and people can be seen taking photographs with him and his horse.
