Bhubaneswar: A special court in Bhubaneswar has sentenced a man to 20 years of imprisonment for repeatedly raping his eight-year-old daughter.
Ad hoc Additional Sessions Judge of POCSO court, Saroj Kumar Sahoo, convicted the man after examining 13
witnesses and 77 documents. A fine of 5,000 was slapped on him and in case of non-payment, he will have to undergo an additional three months in jail.
The court also recommended a compensation of Rs 4 lakh to the girl from the District Legal Services Authority to ensure her rehabilitation.
The incident came to the fore on October 27, 2022, when the man’s wife caught him in the act at their home. The girl then confined in her mother about being raped by the father regularly. Following which, she lodged a complaint with Mahila Police, which then arrested the accused.
