Bhubaneswar: With the annual High School Certificate (HSC) examinations in Odisha set to begin on February 19, the Board of Secondary Education announced that students will be allowed an additional 15 minutes to enter the examination centre in case of emergencies.

Officials said the entry time has been extended up to 9.30 am, from the earlier deadline of 9.15 am. “Examinees will be allowed to enter the examination centre up to 9.30 am, with a 15-minute grace period,” according to BSE president Srikanta Tarai.

The board has made special arrangements to ensure a smooth matriculation examination and strict measures to curb cheating.

As many as 3082 centres have been set up across the state and CCTV cameras installed to monitor the exam process. Students found cheating will face strict action.

In an effort to maintain transparency and prevent malpractice, all examination centres will remain under CCTV surveillance. Authorities will monitor the entire process live from the Board’s central command and control room, said officials.

Officials stated that this measure aims to create a fair, inclusive, and stress-free examination environment for all students appearing for the Odisha Matric exams.

In a bid to facilitate smooth conduct of exams, differently-abled students have been given an additional 50 minutes to complete their papers. The examination centres will provide scribes for these students, and they can also bring a scribe of their choice, provided they are from a lower class than the Class X.

As per sources, altogether 5,61,979 students are set to appear for the exam at 3082 centres across the state. The exams will be held in a single shift, from 9 am to 11.30 am.
