Bhubaneswar: For the first time in the past 10 years, no school in Odisha has reported zero results in the matric exams this year. The results of the annual Class 10 exams were announced on Friday.
According to the data released by the Board of Secondary Education (BSE), 139 schools had zero results in 2012, 51 in 2013, 25 in 2014, 14 in 2015, 21 in 2016, 22 in 2017, 36 in 2018, 82 in 2019 and 31 in 2020.
Another major achievement in this year’s exams is that a record number of 5,945 schools have achieved 100 per cent results. This is more than 20 times as compared to 2012 when 242 schools had achieved this feat.
The other highlights of the results are:
—For the sixth consecutive year since 2016, girls have outscored boys in terms of the pass percentage. This year, the pass percentage among girls is 98.62% compared to 97.16% among boys.
—In terms of the grading of marks, 2,656 students have secured A grade (90% and above) this year. Of them, Ganjam district has topped the district chart with 375 students receiving A grade, followed by Balasore (349), Khurda (300) and Cuttack (270). On the other hand, Nuapada district is in the bottom with only two students securiting 90% and above.
