Odisha Minister Prafulla Mallik In Trouble As HC Rejects Plea To Scrap Police Case
Bhubaneswar: In what can be termed a setback for Steel and Mines Minister Prafulla Mallik, the Orissa High Court has rejected a plea seeking scrapping of a case against him at a police station in Dhenkanal district.
While hearing his petition for winding up of the case, the High Court reportedly directed the lower court to hear the matter, sources said. The lower court will now hear the case.
As per information, the case was registered against the Minister and his supporters in connection with the ransacking of the Kamakhyanagar police station in 2013. Mallik and several other BJD workers were booked in the vandalism case.
They were booked under Sections 147, 332, 333, 334, 307, 506 and 34 of IPC in connection with the incident that had taken place at Kamakhyanagar police station, the sources added.
Mallik was not immediately available for comment.
