Cuttack: Former BJD leader and Gopalpur MLA Pradeep Panigrahi can now walk out of jail as the Orissa High Court (HC) has granted him bail in connection with the Tata Motors job fraud case registered at Golanthara police station in Ganjam district.
The former minister has been in judicial custody at Jharpada Special Jail in Bhubaneswar since the CID Crime Branch (CB) of Odisha Police arrested him on December 3 last year in connection with the alleged job scam.
A total of six criminal cases were pending against him. He had got bail in three other cases on June 2.
Panigrahi is accused of collecting Rs 6 lakh, Rs 3 lakh and Rs 5 lakh from youths on behalf of Akash Kumar Pathak, son of suspended IFS officer Abhay Kant Pathak, with the promise to provide them jobs in the private firm.
The HC had granted him bail in the case registered against him by the CID CB on February 24.
