Bhubaneswar: Cuttack MP Bhartruhari Mahtab has written to Civil Aviation Minister K Ram Mohan Naidu, expressing grave concerns over repeated Air India flight disruptions on the Delhi–Bhubaneswar route.
In his August 6 letter, Mahtab highlighted recent incidents causing significant passenger inconvenience. He cited his own experience on July 26, when Flight AI 2489 was delayed by an hour and further postponed due to air conditioning issues and technical problems.
He further mentioned about cancellation of Flight AI 500 from Bhubaneswar to Delhi on August 3 due to high cabin temperature, alongside cancellation of another Air India flight from Singapore to Chennai for maintenance issues.
Mahtab also pointed to DGCA reports of over 100 violations concerning crew rest, training, and airfield qualifications. “These recurring malfunctions, compounded by DGCA reports citing over 100 violations relating to crew rest, training, and airfield qualifications, clearly call for immediate corrective measures,” the senior MP stressed in his letter.
He called for a thorough investigation and swift corrective measures to restore public trust and Air India’s credibility.
Air India has been facing criticism over flight delays and cancellations. There also been instances of passengers stranded in a sweltering cabin without air conditioning.
