Bhubaneswar: Sangeeta Kumari Singh Deo, the BJP MP from Odisha’s Balangir, figures in the list of 29 members elected to the Committee on Estimates of Lok Sabha.
The committee scrutinises the expenditure and utilisation of funds by Union Ministries and departments. One of the three financial standing committees of the Parliament, it also suggests alternative policies in order to bring about efficiency and economy in administration. It also examines whether the finances are laid out within the limits of the policy implied in the estimates and also to suggest the form in which the estimates shall be presented to Parliament
Her term as member of the committee will end on April 30, 2020, official sources said.
The BJP made inroads into eastern states of India, with Odisha giving it eight seats in Lok Sabha. The rewards for the winners have been flowing in since then.
First, Partap Sarangi, the party’s MP from Balasore, found place in Modi 2.0 team. Bargarh MP Suresh Pujari was then appointed as BJP whip in Lok Sabha for Odisha, Manipur and Telangana.
He, along with Union Minister Dharmendra Pradhan and Sundargarh MP Jual Oram, is also part of the BJP Parliamentary Party Executive Committee, which was constituted in June.
Dharmendra and Jual are special invitees to the committee in Rajya Sabha and Lok Sabha, respectively.
