Faridabad: Odisha and Madhya Pradesh have been named the theme states for the 38th Surajkund International Craft Fair in Haryana’s Faridabad, about 40 km from Delhi, scheduled to be held from February 7 and 23.
It is for the first time that fair, which draws crowds to experience global diversity and celebrates rich cultural tapestry, arts, handicrafts and cuisines, is having two theme states. Both Odisha and MP will get a higher number of stalls to showcase their art during the 17-day event.
The fair will have around 1,200 stalls with around 90 stalls being set aside for craftspersons of the theme states this year. Around 2,000 artisans are expected to participate in the event with invitations extended to over 45 countries, the Telegraph reported, quoting sources in Haryana Tourism.
There will be designated stalls for artisans and craftspersons, a food court and other amenities at the venue spanning across 45 acre.Various commercial organisations are expected to put up stalls at the fair. It will also see participation of cultural troupes from various parts of the country, including the Northeast.
The fair is likely to be inaugurated by Union Minister for Tourism and Culture Gajendra Singh Sehkhawat.
