Bhubaneswar: The Nandankanan Zoological Park here has earned around Rs 23 lakh this year as part of its “Adopt an Animal” scheme to mobilise resource as well as promote conservation.
“We started the scheme in 2008, but it couldn’t pick up much due to some issues. So we made some changes and the programme is really going on very well this year,” the Zoo Director, Shashi Paul, was quoted as saying by news agency ANI.
“A total of 170-175 adoptions have already been done and we have received Rs 22-23 lakh. Around 60 per cent of the adoptions are from Odisha itself,” Paul informed.
