Rourkela: Cops have recovered the body of a newborn from a toilet at the Ispat General Hospital (IGH) in Odisha’s Rourkela on Tuesday.
A sanitary worker saw the hand stuck in the pan. He informed the authorities. On being informed, police reached the hospital. The cops found the mother. According to reports, the woman, who is also from the city, was not married. Autopsy will be conducted.
Police probe revealed that an ambulance had carried her to the hospital on Monday night. She was suffering from pain in the abdomen. Doctors checked her. She was asked to wait. She then went to the toilet.
She had delivered the baby there, police said, adding that she left the hospital without informing. An unnatural death case has been registered. Police are investigating the matter.
