Bhubaneswar: The Odisha government on Thursday cleared seven investment proposals worth over Rs 350 crore for the tourism sector.
The approved projects include Golf Resort at Satpada, Puri, to be developed by M/s Mayfair Hotels & Resorts Ltd with investment of Rs 125 crore, Gopalpur Palm Resort at Udayapur, Ganjam, to be developed by M/s Swosti Vacations Club Pvt Ltd, with an investment of Rs 64.58 crore, 4-Star Hotel at Trishulia, Cuttack, to be developed by Lalchand Resort Pvt Ltd with investment of Rs 54.50 crore, Resort at Gopalpur by Luxurio Assets Pvt Ltd with investment of Rs 49.80 crore, Resort at Tampara by M/s Lifeline Multi Venture Pvt Ltd with investment of Rs 49.80 crore, water park at Basantpur by Aquamagic Water Amusement Park with investment of Rs 7.50 crore, and Theme Park & Resort near Rourkela by M/s Krishna Holdings with investment of Rs 3.16 crore.
The Land Allotment Committee, chaired by Chief Secretary Aditya Prasad Padhi, approved land for the projects. Padhi directed concerned officers to fix the commencement and commissioning timelines for each project. The allottees were asked to commission their projects within three years from the date of taking possession of the land.
Talking to mediapersons, secretary, tourism, Vishal Kumar Dev said the seven projects will bring in an investment of Rs 354.34 crore. The projects will be developed over a total area of around 79.5 acre, of which the state government will allot around 42.5 acre. Apart from creating direct employment opportunities, these tourism projects also have the potential to generate large indirect employment, he added.
