Bhubaneswar: The Odisha Uniformed Services Staff Selection Commission (OUSSSC) has directed all candidates who applied for the Combined Police Service Examination-2024 (CPSE-2024) for Sub-Inspector level posts to update and validate their credentials and application data online.
The facility is available on the commission’s official website, ousssc.odisha.gov.in, from 10 am on October 15 till 10 pm on October 29, 2026. This requirement covers every applicant, including those eligible under age-relaxation provisions introduced earlier. Once completed, the updated and validated information will be treated as final for all subsequent stages of the examination and related processes. Candidates have been urged to finish the exercise within the given window.
The move comes as authorities resume preparations for the long-delayed recruitment after the original examination, scheduled for October 5 and 6, 2025, was cancelled on September 30, 2025, following allegations of a large-scale question paper leak and irregularities. Nearly 1.53 lakh candidates had applied for around 933 Sub-Inspector and equivalent posts. The Odisha government later transferred police recruitment responsibilities to the newly-formed OUSSSC, which has also been tasked with filling a larger pool of vacancies that now includes constable-level posts, bringing the overall approved strength across categories to 7,664.
The OUSSSC officials have previously indicated that candidate data had to be recovered and forensically validated after the investigation disrupted the original process, and that only existing applicants will be permitted to proceed, no fresh applications will be accepted. The commission has assured candidates that the forthcoming examination will be conducted fairly, transparently and with enhanced safeguards
Meanwhile, investigation into the alleged scam is continuing on multiple fronts. Brahmapur police initially arrested 114 candidates, with the total number of arrests by the Odisha Police Crime Branch rising further. The state government handed the criminal probe to the Central Bureau of Investigation in late October 2025 because of its interstate dimensions, including reported links to Andhra Pradesh and West Bengal. The CBI has since filed chargesheets naming key accused, including Shankar Prusty, Suresh Nayak and Muna Mohanty. The aspirants were allegedly charged Rs 25 lakh for guaranteed access to leaked papers.
In parallel, the Enforcement Directorate launched a money-laundering inquiry and conducted searches at multiple locations in Bhubaneswar and Brahmapur on October 9, 2026, targeting premises linked to the principal accused, who remain in judicial custody. The agency is examining financial flows and alleged proceeds from the racket.
