Odisha Police Collects Over Rs 90 Lakh Penalty From COVID-19 Norms Violators In 3 Days
Bhubaneswar: Continuing its special drive against violators of COVID-19 norms, Odisha Police collected penalty of around Rs 39 lakh in the last 24 hours.
On third day of the drive, police imposed fine on 12145 person for not using mask or maintaining social distance. They collected Rs 38,98,250 towards penalty from them.
As many as 33,346 people have been found violating the COVID-19 norms and Rs 90.67 lakh collected from them as fine from across the state in the last three days.
Following the order of chief minister Naveen Patnaik, the police launched the special drive for 10 days to enforce COVID-19 safety regulations on April 7.
With COVID-19 positive cases rapidly increasing every day, the police will further intensify the enforcement drive in coming days, sources said.
It may be noted that the state government on Friday revised the penalty amount for not wearing a mask in public places from Rs 1000 to Rs 2000 for the first or second offence. The violators will have to pay Rs 5000 for subsequent offence.
