Odisha Polls: BJP Accuses BJD Of Using Doctored Video Of Amit Shah During Campaign
Bhubaneswar: Odisha unit of BJP on Tuesday accused BJD of spreading lies and seeking votes with the doctored video of Union Home Minister Amit Shah.
Senior BJP leader and party candidate for Nabarangpur Lok Sabha seat Balabhadra Majhi said at a presser in the town that his rival from BJD Pradeep Majhi had cited the doctored video of the Home Minister to target the BJP and gain support from a section of voters.
The BJP leader alleged that the BJD candidate had quoted Shah from the video while addressing a public rally on Monday. “Pradeep Majhi claimed that Shah had said in Telangana a few days back that the BJP would abolish reservation for SC, ST and OBC, if elected to power,” said Balabhadra Majhi.
The BJP candidate said it has been proved that the video of Shah that was posted in the social media was doctored and fake. Delhi Police’s Special Cell has registered an FIR in this regard and summoned Telangana chief minister Revanth Reddy and five other Congress leaders from the state who had shared the doctored videos.
Despite the development, the BJD has been using the fake video to mislead the innocent voters in remote areas and win their support, said the BJP leader adding that the BJD candidate’s remarks violated the model code of conduct and his party would move the chief electoral officer in the state in this regard.
Meanwhile, the BJP has filed a complaint against Pradeep Majhi in this regard at Bhubaneswar cyber police station.
