Odisha Polls: BJP Moves CEO Against BJD For Using Govt Logo In Campaign In Cuttack

Bhubaneswar: Odisha unit of BJP has approached the chief electoral officer (CEO) seeking action against BJD’s Parliamentary candidate for Cuttack for allegedly using the government logo in his election campaign.

A team of BJP leaders, led by state spokesman of BJP Dillip Mallik on Monday submitted a petition to the CEO against BJD’s candidate for Cuttack Lok Sabha constituency Santrupta Mishra.

The BJP, in its petition, alleged that Mishra had installed hoardings on government land located on two sides of a public road near the collectorate using “Ama Odisha Ama Nabin” logo of the state government. Besides flouting the model code of conduct, the hoardings were posing hurdles for smooth movement of vehicular traffic on the busy road, they claimed.

The BJP leaders demanded removal of the hoardings immediately and action against BJD leader Mishra for violating the model code for the ensuing elections.

The saffron party also drew the attention of the CEO towards involvement of assistant public prosecutor Rabindra Nath Nayak in the campaign of BJD candidate for Pipili Assembly segment under Puri Lok Sabha seat. They alleged that Nayak was campaigning for the BJD candidate in the constituency despite being a government servant.

As Nayak had violated the provisions of service rules for the government employees during the elections, he should be removed from his post, the BJP leaders demanded.
