Odisha Rail Mishap: 2 Special Trains From Howrah To Balasore, Another From Bhadrak To Chennai Today

Bhubaneswar: As restoration work is in progress after the horrific rail mishap at Bahanaga in Odisha’s Balasore district, a special train will run from Bhadrak to Chennai at 1 pm on Sunday, official sources said.

Similarly, the railways will also run will run two special MEMU trains from Howrah to Balasore today.

The Bhadrak-Chennai special train will have stoppages at Cuttack, Bhubaneswar and all major places enroute.

The train will also have a parcel van attached to carry bodies, if required.

Likewise, one of the special a trains will leave Howrah at 10.30 am while another is scheduled to depart from Howrah at 1 pm.

These trains will have stoppages at all stations between Howrah and Balasore.

Meanwhile, all 21 coaches, which had capsized due to the derailment, have been grounded. Bogies/ wheel sets and other components were being cleared from the accident site, Railways officials said.

The deadly triple train accident involving Coromandel Express, SMVP-Howrah Superfast Express and a goods train at Bahanaga in Balasore district on June 2 has claimed at least 288 lives.

As per the preliminary report, the Coromandel Express entered the loop line and crashed into a goods train parked there instead of the main line, just ahead of the Bahanaga Bazar railway station.

The report claimed that the coaches of SMVP-Howrah Superfast Express capsized after crashing into the coaches of Coromandel Express that had scattered on the adjacent track after hitting the goods train.
