Bhubaneswar: Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik on Thursday said Odisha is ready with complete database and logistics for vaccination against COVID-19 which is likely to start in the country soon.
Reviewing the COVID-19 management in the state through video-conferencing, Naveen said since vaccination process is likely to take over a year, people must follow all government protocols sincerely.
Expressing his satisfaction over the management of the pandemic during the puja season, he hoped that fear during winter season will be proved wrong. He advised for awareness campaign in this regard and also vaccination.
The chief minister directed the officials to ensure that livelihood of anybody is not affected due to COVID-19. He will hold a review meeting with district collectors and bank authorities on loans to farmers, Mission Shakti, MSMEs and livelihood programmes on December 22.
Stating that negligence in extending loans for livelihood programmes will not be tolerated under any circumstances, Naveen said he would inform the Finance Ministry in case of negligence by the banks on the same day.
Chief secretary Asit Tripathy said there has been rapid improvement in COVID-19 situation in the state and all arrangements for vaccination have been put in place.
Additional Chief Secretary, Health & Family Welfare department PK Mohapatra said the COVID recovery rate in the state now stands at 98.52% which is second best in the country. Besides, the daily infection rate has come down to 0.96% from 1% for the first time, he added.
He further said sero survey will be conducted in Ganjam, Nayagarh and Koraput by December 31 and in Cuttack and Bhubaneswar in January.
DGP Abhay spoke on COVID-19 containment by the police administration.
Development Commissioner and other senior officials took part in the deliberations.
