Odisha Registers 47% Growth In SGST Collection In February
Bhubaneswar: Odisha has registered highest growth among all states in the country in GST collection in February.
According to a release of the state GST commissioner’s office, the state has collected total overall GST of Rs 40,210 crore compared to Rs 26,567 crore till February 21 of 2020-21 and Rs 27,044 crore in the same period during 2019-20.
The overall collection including Central GST (CGST), State GST (SGST), integrated GST (IGST) and cess during February is estimated at Rs 4,101 crore compared to Rs 3,340 crore collected during the corresponding period last year, registering a growth of 23% which was the highest among all major states, the office claimed.
The SGST collection was Rs 1,152 crore, compared to Rs 781 crore in the same period last year, registering a growth of around 47%.
The GST Growth was mostly contributed by mining and manufacturing sectors. While mining sector witnessed a growth of 84%, the manufacturing sector recorded 101% growth. Among others, the service sector, trading sector and works contract sector registered a growth of 61.37%, 69.64% and 38.83% respectively.
The total VAT collection from petroleum products and liquor in the month was Rs 836 crore compared to Rs 833 crore in the same month last year. While Rs 641 crore was collected from the petroleum products, Rs 195 crore was collected from liquor.
Besides, 43,542 new taxpayers have been brought under the GST fold during the current financial year.
