Bhubaneswar: The daily COVID caseload remained above 500 for the second consecutive day on Wednesday as 559 more people, including 71 in the age group of 0-18 year, tested positive for the virus in the last 24 hours.
The state had seen 556 new cases on Tuesday and 340 on Monday,
Among the new cases, 321 are from quarantine and 238 local contacts. Khurda district with 279 infections accounts for almost 50 per cent of the daily count. Cuttack saw 54 new cases. Seven districts reported nil cases.

With these cases being detected from 70,586 samples, the test positivity rate (TPR) stood at 0.79 per cent compared to 0.97 per cent the previous. The last 24 hours saw an increase in testing. The state has been conducting around 50,000- 60,000 tests for the past few days.
While the COVID-19 tally has touched 1036532, Odisha now has 4785 active cases.
