Odisha Reports 8 More COVID Deaths, Toll Touches 8,550
Bhubaneswar: The COVID-19 toll in Odisha touched 8,550 on Thursday with eight more deaths being confirmed in the last 24 hours.
According to the Health Department, a 38-year-old woman from Sundargarh district is the youngest victim. She was also suffering from diabetes mellitus, hypothyroidism and rheumatic heart disease.
Following are the details of the deceased:
* An 80-year-old man from Balasore district who was also suffering from chronic kidney disease and had a cerebro vascular accident.
* An 82-year-old man from Bhubaneswar who was also suffering from carcinoma in lungs with metastasis.
* A 64-year-old woman from Keonjhar district who was also suffering from diabetes mellitus and hypertension.
* A 45-year-old man from Koraput district who was also suffering from bronchial asthma.
* A 45-year-old woman from Rayagada district.
* A 75-year-old man from Sundargarh district who was also suffering from hypertension.
* A 38-year-old woman from Sundargarh district who was also suffering from diabetes mellitus, hypothyroidism and rheumatic heart disease.
* A 55-year-old woman from Sundargarh district who was also suffering from hypertension.
With these eight cases, Odisha has reported 84 COVID deaths so far in January.
There were 56 casualties in December. As many as 80 COVID deaths were confirmed in November, 134 in October and 346 in September. Similarly, 2,056 fatalities were registered in August, while July saw 1,903 deaths, June 1,272 and May 737, said sources in the Health Department.
The second wave of the pandemic claimed 49 children and adolescents in Odisha while two have so far died in the third wave.
