Bhubaneswar: The first Omicron cases have been detected in Odisha.
Two persons, who had tested COVID-19 positive, have been detected with the Omicron variant, the Institute of Life Sciences (ILS) informed.
One of them had returned from Nigeria while the other had returned from Qatar. Their swab samples were sent for genome-sequencing to ILS after they tested positive for COVID-19 upon arrival.
Over 200 cases of Omicron have been detected in India so far.
