Bhubaneswar: Odisha saw over 10,000 fresh COVID cases for the second consecutive day on Friday as 10,273 more people tested positive for the virus in the last 24 hours.
The state had seen 10059 cases the previous day while 8778 people were found infected on Wednesday, 7071 on Tuesday against 4829 and 4717 on Monday and Sunday respectively.
According to the I & PR department, 5962 are from quarantine and 4311 local contacts. Among them, 1065 of those infected are in the age group of 0-18 years. The highest of 3496 cases have been reported from Khurda, followed by Sundargarh (1049) and Cuttack (844).

With these cases being detected from 75,731 samples, the test positivity rate (TPR) stood at 13.56 per cent from 12.40 per cent and 11.76 per cent recorded in the previous two days.
While the affected tally has touched 1111879, Odisha now has 53171 active cases.
In terms of active cases, 4 districts – Khurda, Sundargarh, Sambalpur and Cuttack – are in Red Zone. Khurda has the highest of 17354 active cases.
