Gopalpur: Sand artist Sudarsan Pattnaik picked Gopalpur, which is hosting a beach festival, to create a sculpture of Santa Claus using 1500 kg of tomatoes, on the occasion of Christmas.
On the 27ft high and 60 ft wide sand art, Sudarsan wrote, “Merry Christmas.”

Christmas is being celebrated with special midnight mass, visits to churches, singing of carols and exchange of greetings and gifts in different parts of Odisha.
The Padma awardee has been creating pieces of art on every Christman for the last 17 years and many of those have found a place in the Limca Book of World records. In 2021, he created a 50 feet long, 28 feet wide sand sculpture of Santa Claus on Puri sea beach with the help of 5400 red roses and other flowers.
