Cuttack: Ten school students from Cuttack have designed an exoplanetary rover to be exhibited at NASA Human Rover Exploration Challenge 2021.
The young innovators are part of Navonmesh Prasar Student Astronomy Team (NaPSAT) and are the first ever high school team to represent India at the prestigious NASA competition to be held in Alabama, US this month.
The competition requires participants to design, build and test a human-powered rover which is capable of traversing exoplanetary like landscapes.
“Our rover has been designed for the Artemis Mission 2024 during which the first woman and next man will be sent to the Moon. The rover is capable of travelling on different types of Martian terrains,” a member of NaPSAT was quoted as saying by Times 24.
It is unfortunate that the team will not be able to go to the US to be physically present at the competition. However, the students are still determined to work their hardest and give their best so as make the country proud by winning an award from NASA.
