Bhubaneswar: The daily COVID-19 caseload in Odisha breached the 7000-mark on Tuesday with 7071 more people testing positive for the virus in the last 24 hours.
This is the highest single-day spike since June last year.
The state had seen 4829 and 4717 new cases on Monday and Sunday respectively.
According to the I & PR Department, 4128 of the new infections are from quarantine and 2943 local contacts. Among them, 707 are in the age group of 0-18 years. The highest of 2226 cases are from Khurda followed by Sundargarh (1147), Sambalpur (609) and Cuttack (505).

With these cases being detected from 69,018 samples, the test positivity jumped to 10.24 per cent from 6.49 per cent the previous day.
While the affected tally has touched 10,82,769, Odisha now has 27216 active cases.
