Odisha Set For Rainy Durga Puja; Intensity Likely To Increase From Oct 1

Bhubaneswar: The people of Odisha may have to celebrate Dussehra amid spells of rain. Rainfall is likely to intensify over the state from October 1 due to the cyclonic circulation brewing over west-central Bay of Bengal, the regional centre of India Meteorological Department (IMD) informed on Tuesday.

Thundershowers and lightning will continue for another three days.

Notably, the ‘North Indian Ocean Extended Range Outlook for Cyclogenesis’ issued by the India Meteorological Department (IMD) had predicted formation of a cyclonic circulation over the north Bay of Bengal during the middle of week 1 (September 23 to 29) and another over the central Bay of Bengal during the middle of week 2 (September 30 to October 6). However, rainfall activity might not be very strong with the process for withdrawal of the southwest monsoon beginning around October 10.

The Met Office has warned of heavy rain in a few districts of Odisha on September 28 and 29.
