Odisha Set To Have Its First Tribal University In Mayurbhanj
Baripada: A tribal university, first of its kind in the state, is likely to come up in Odisha’s Mayurbhanj district soon.
Plans are afoot by the Union Ministry of Tribal Affairs to set up a tribal university in district, sources said. This will be the first such university in the state.
The process of identification of land for the proposed university has already been launched. A team from Indira Gandhi National Tribal University (IGNTU) in Madhya Pradesh visited a number of places in the tribal-dominated district on Tuesday.
The team, led by Union Minister of State for Tribal Affairs Bishweswar Tudu examined the available infrastructure for the proposed university. Around 50 acres of land will be required for setting up the university.
After identifying and finalising a suitable land, the Tribal Affairs Ministry will seek approval from the Central government for the establishment of the university.
All other ancillary measures will accordingly be taken for setting up the tribal university.
