Bhubaneswar: Normal life has been badly hit in Odisha as the cold wave intensified further on Sunday with the mercury dipping to below 10 degrees Celsius at 10 places.
According to a release by the Meteorological Centre, Bhubaneswar, Keonjhar recorded the lowest temperature at 7.1 degree Celsius while it slumped to a single digit in Daringbadi in Kandhamal district (7.5), Balasore (9), Angul (8), Jharsuguda (9.3), Sambalpur (9.3), Sundargarh (9.5), Talcher (9.3), , Sonepur (9) and Phulbani (8.4). The temperature remained at 10 degrees Celsius at Chandbali (10.4), Baripada (10), Hirakud (10.8), Balangir (10.5) and Bhawanitpatna (10.5).
The coastal areas also witnessed a sharp fall in the night temperature. While Paradip recorded 12.2 degrees, Gopalpur and Puri recorded 15.5 and 13.6 degree Celsius respectively.
The twin cities of Cuttack and Bhubaneswar recorded 10.2 and 11.1 degree Celsius respectively.
The release further said that the night temperature in most parts of the state will fall by 3-4 degree Celsius during the next 72 hours till December 26.
