Bhubaneswar: The Health and Wellness Group (HWG) of the Odisha Society of the Americas (OSA) has donated 550 high-end pulse oximeters worth Rs 8 lakh to Odisha State Medical Corporation Ltd as a help in the fight against COVID-19.
Odia actor Sabyasachi Mishra, the goodwill ambassador of HWG, handed over the oximeters to Odisha State Medical Corporation Ltd (OSMCL) in presence of OSMCL managing director Yamini Sarangi and general manager (Operations) Dr Saubhagya Ranjan Ransingh.
The certified oximeters will be supplied to health care workers who will visit remote areas of Odisha for check-ups. The project was taken up under the guidance of Pradipta Kumar Mohapatra, HWG chairman Dr Devashish Ray and project leader Dr Nibedita Mohanty.
The HWG, a group of Odia doctors working in the United States, had donated an advanced mobile COVID testing van equipped with modern facilities to Health department for swab testing process a few months ago.
“In future, the group has many plans to execute in association with Sabyasachi Mishra for the betterment of Odisha. We are also forming a global network of Odia physicians working in different countries,” said Dr Ray.
Sabyasachi Mishra said, “This is another achievement for OSA Health & Wellness Group after the successful delivery of COVID testing van. Globally we are connecting for a healthy Odisha.”
HWG’s medical adviser for India Dr Salil Mohanty said, “It is done on an experiment basis and basing on the feedback, we will expand this project as needed.”
