Bhubaneswar: Odisha government will extend absolute support to its sportspersons who to qualify and win medals in the Khelo India Youth Games 2021 at Panchkula in Haryana, principal secretary, Sport, Vishal Kumar Dev said on Tuesday.
In an interaction with senior officials and chief coaches of seven state sports associations at a workshop titled, “Collaborative Partnerships for Odisha to Excel in Khelo India Youth Game”, Dev urged the office-bearers of the associations to plan their annual activities in a systematic and scientific manner to boost the prospects of Odisha’s sportspersons.
“I request all the officials and chief coaches to work together and come up with systematic and planning to support the efforts of our sportspersons at the Games,” he said.
“Odisha has High-Performance Centres for athletics, weightlifting, swimming end shooting with modern coaches and other facilities. They will go a long way in supporting our medal prospects in Khelo India Youth Games. I also look forward to meet the office-bearers of other state sports associations in the near future,” Dev said.
The workshop, organised by the Sports and Youth Services Department along with seven sports associations, was attended by secretary of Odisha Weightlifting Association Narayan Sahu, Odisha Kho-Kho Association secretary Pradyumna Mishra, Odisha State judo Associåtion secretary Purna Chandra Mishra. Odisha Gymnastics Association secretary Ashok Kumar Sahoo, Odisha Badminton Association secretary Nileen Kumar, Odisha State Bowling Association secretary Sumit Ranjan Purohit and working president of the Odisha Swimming Association Pradip Kumar Padhee.
