Bhubaneswar: While talking about a possible flood threat in four rivers of Odisha, Special Relief Commissioner (SRC) PK Jena on Friday said that the deep depression over the Bay of Bengal is likely to trigger more rains in Balasore, Mayurbhanj, Keonjhar and Sundargarh districts.
Baitarani, Subarnaekha, Budhabalanga and Salandi rivers are currently in focus while a close watch is being kept on Brahmani as well.
The SRC said that they are examining various weather models over the possibility of intensification of the system into a cyclonic storm.

“Only JTWC has said that the system has the potential of becoming a cyclone while the India Meteorological Department (IMD) suggests it will cross the coast as a deep depression. Moreover, the track of JTWC and IMD is almost the same. Without ruling out the possibility of a cyclone, all necessary steps are being taken,” Jena said.
