[Watch] Odisha STA Posts Avesh Khan’s ‘Helmet-Throw Act’ To Create Awareness On Road Safety
Bhubaneswar: Helmet in cricket and while riding two-wheeler is for your safety. Respect it or else you might end up paying fine,” the State Transport Authority (STA), Odisha, tweeted on Thursday, with a video post from an IPL match.
Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) pacer Avesh Khan was penalized for throwing away his helmet after taking the winning run against Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) during an IPL match at M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru on Monday. Drawing a parallel, the STA put up to post to stress the importance of helmet while driving two-wheelers on roads.

The STA also urged commuters not to mix ‘Drinking and Driving’ as alcohol reduces the ability to see distant objects by 25%. “Allow Life to Thrive, Don’t Drink & Drive.”
Notably, Odisha had found a place in the ‘high performers’ category in a Supreme Court committee report on road safety implementation. The team praised helmet compliance in the State capital apart from the smart queue system implemented at the Regional Transport Office (RTO) in the city which was attributed to complementing infrastructure, the STA had then said.
Project Rakshak, Project Vahak, National Road Safety Short Film Festival, helmet compliance and driver behaviour in Bhubaneswar, the Driver Training Institute at Chhatia, Smart Queue System at Bhubaneswar RTO and the Integrated Traffic Management System (ITMS) project in Sundargarh district were considered best practices and recommended to other states, it added.
