Odisha Students Fly To Singapore For Paid Internships, Overseas Job Opportunities

Bhubaneswar: Twenty-three students from World Skill Center (WSC), Bhubaneswar, have embarked on a six-month paid internship in Singapore to gain international work experience and improve their prospects of securing overseas employment.

The students, belonging to the 2025–26 batch, are the fifth cohort from the state-run advanced skill training institute to join the Singapore Internship Programme (SIP), which provides hands-on industry exposure and familiarises participants with global workplace practices.

They will work with six organisations — Four Seasons Hotel, Goodwood Park Hotel, Newway Systems, Neptune Technology, Grace Electrical Engineering and Vantive Manufacturing — across hospitality, technology, electrical engineering and manufacturing.

“The six-month internship in Singapore will provide students with an opportunity to apply their skills in real-world work environments and gain new experiences. This will help them become better prepared for their future careers,” said WSC Chief Executive Officer Rashmi Ranjan Mohapatra.

“Our aim is to equip the youth of Odisha to achieve success in India and abroad through their skills and capabilities,” Mohapatra added.

A welcome reception for the students was held in Singapore earlier on Wednesday. Representatives of the Indian High Commission, Singapore’s Ministry of Energy, Trade and Industry, ITE Education Services and industry organisations attended the event.

The programme is being implemented jointly by the Odisha government’s Skill Development and Technical Education Department and ITE Education Services, Singapore.

Students from previous batches have secured job offers from their host companies, highlighting the programme’s potential to translate international work experience into overseas employment opportunities for Odisha’s skilled youth.
